Ouch that hurt

Overcoming “cloud pain” is achievable with an approach we call “modern cloud operations”.

Ouch that hurt!!!!!

As the new year’s fireworks blasted off, I was reliving the moment where my back cracked after a cold winter surf in Wales. The sound was almost the same!!! The only new year’s resolution I could think of is to get my back better.

Reflecting on 2023, a lot of time was spent helping take away current pain for customers who were trying to get control of their cloud spend, embed basic governance controls into critical business applications and gain visibility so they could fight another day.

From ice packs to ibuprofen, I was doing the same thing outside work, seeking temporary pain relief! I never got ahead of it, and never managed to break away to try new things. It was a struggle. There is of course a better way, meaning to address the root cause.

Overcoming “cloud pain” is achievable with an approach we call “modern cloud operations”. With this framework, platform and operating model, companies can build intelligence into their IT operations functions using AIOps and automation capabilities. The result: cost optimisation, faster development cycles and more opportunities for business innovation.

Now, transforming to a new way of operating while “flying the plane” requires vision, investment, and commitment to getting a detailed understanding of the problem.

This is the approach we take to every challenge with customers, but I wasn’t applying this to my back issue. Why? The truth was I couldn’t see the wood from the trees so I was just hoping the pain would eventually go away.

But, no more in 2024! My new year’s resolution to focus more energy on addressing root causes rather than symptoms and it’s working. I saw the specialist, and now have a real plan!

Just like modern cloud operations where companies can proactively manage critical business applications in the cloud, I’ll anticipate back problems before they happen.

My other new year’s resolution is to leave 12-degree Welsh surfing to the youngsters!

Happy new year to all and best wishes for 2024.
